Hello and Welcome to the Blog

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Introduction

Welcome to the Cornersoft Solutions blog! Through this blog I hope to not only demonstrate my expertise, but more importantly, to educate others on complex topics within the Embedded Linux space.

As you may have read in the About Us page, Cornersoft was founded out of a passion I have for helping others solve complex problems in the Embedded Linux space. Another passion I have is for writing. I have always found it easy to put down words on a page. Whether they are good or interesting remains to be seen I guess 🙂

What to Expect

The primary focus on this blog is going to be technical. You can expect to be reading posts that are about specific embedded topics, many which may be “hands on.” I am a sucker for the details in engineering, I enjoy “getting my hands dirty.” Sometimes too much so, but it is why I accel as I can dig into both the software and hardware intricacies when it is necessary to do so to solve complex problems.

I am aiming to start working on the first technical blog shortly. I am not yet certain how often I will post these, it will all depend on how busy I am and what I am focused on at the time. Often the subject matter will probably be based on what I am working on at the time. My goal is to publish these semi-regularly, however.

Why Should You Work With an Embedded Linux Consultant?

If you are reading this blog, I will assume you are working in some field related to Embedded Linux or attempting to get started with such a design. I am honest when I say that this field is difficult. There is a lot of complex software and hardware not only in running the system, but also in building the software. Each and every year as hardware becomes higher performance and more complex, so do the tools and software needed to operate it – it is often difficult to keep up. It is a very interesting field however, and you will have a lot of fun learning and solving problems along the way.

Many engineers that are “thrown” into a Linux project, might have some experience with Linux. However, this is often at the userspace, application or system level. Embedded devices also have special intricacies like device trees that even seasoned Linux application programmers may not be familiar with. In short, being a good software engineer in the Embedded Linux space often requires an understanding, or at minimum, a desire to understand portions of the hardware and to dig into the details in areas you might not always be familiar or comfortable with. Having a consultant at your disposal can save your team lots of time and more importantly money in the long run. Simultaneously, a consultant can help to educate your team along the way and help them stay focused on where they accel.

At Cornersoft, we understand many of the Embedded Linux technical intricacies and know the right places to start in order to work to solve problems efficiently. While many of our customer interactions are often large project based engagements, we also offer smaller services like coaching, Q&A sessions or other customized training in order to help our customer’s succeed in their projects. In Closing

Thank you for taking the time to read this first post. I hope you enjoyed it and that I piqued your interest enough for you to come back and check out our future and more technical articles!
